Launch of Young East African Research Scientist (YEARS’) forum in Uganda
On 8th July 2019, the Young East African Research Scientist (YEARS’) Forum was launched in Kampala, Uganda.
Young East African Research Scientist (YEARS’) forum is an initiative of East African Health Research Commission (EAHRC) aiming to empower East African Community (EAC) young researchers to be able to shape the future of research for health in the region through mentorship of Senior Scientists in the region. EAHRC set up the YEARS’ forum with the purpose of training, mentoring them and setting up regional and national networks. Students’ career goals are evolutionary and good mentors assist students with their professional evolution. Mentoring is important, not only because of the knowledge and skills students can learn from mentors but also because mentoring provides professional socialization and personal support to facilitate success in graduate school and beyond.
Our PhD Fellows; Ms. Hilda Ikiriza, national coordinator (YEARS) forum, Uganda Chapter and Ms. Jaqueline Aber Jaqueline are the YEARS representing Uganda.
